Not really—my name is Magen Parks. If you get it, you get it. Welcome to my blog, where I dive into topics that deserve a deeper perspective.

If you recognize the reference in my title, you’ve probably guessed my age. I’m a 27-year-old Black and Armenian woman from California, born in 1998. My hobbies include drawing, writing, watching anime, and, most recently, playing video games. I have zero interest in parties, drama, or other people, really. I tend to keep to myself. I’ve been told I have a resting bitch face, but no worries—once people get to know me, they quickly find out how kind, genuine, and goofy I can be.

It’s nice to meet you.

You’ve probably noticed how loud the world has gotten. There’s an oversaturation of advice. Social media is a circus. Friends, family, strangers—everyone is quick to shout their opinions in your ear. And to top it all off, everyone sounds the same. Oh yeah, that’s the best part. No originality—yeah, that’s hot. Everything is recycled, played out, and cliché. It’s lost its spark.

Even the things we love that are part of us—like anime—feel played out now. Remember when anime was our dirty little secret? Yeah, now everyone’s got their grimy little hands on it.

Because there’s so much noise flooding the world right now, it’s becoming harder to pick what truly matters out from the crowd. For me, clichés never helped me build a better life. Through my own experiences, I discovered a different approach—one that feels more honest. More realistic.

That’s why I created Realism.

You know how people talk about Optimists and Pessimists?

Optimists glorify life and all its challenges, while Pessimists sit and wallow in their miseries.

A lot of the clichés we hear come from the overly optimistic crowd—the ones who downplay reality and move through life like everything is peaches and cream.

Pessimists aren’t any better. I have a little more respect for them because at least they acknowledge that life gets heavy. Still, they can cling to their suffering and settle into victimhood with zero intent to grow.

At some point I realized I am neither an optimist nor a pessimist.

I’m a realist.

A realist values truth over comfort and chooses to face life as it is—complex, imperfect, and often outside of our control. Realists don’t chase illusions or hide behind clichés. They seek clarity, depth, and a grounded way of living that brings peace not from escaping reality, but from understanding it.

Realism is a personal blog where I expand on that kind of philosophy.

If you’re looking for more surface-level, cliché bandages to temporarily treat deeper wounds, this probably isn’t your space. But if you value realness, depth, and want to change your life in a way that’s grounded and honest, you’re in the right place.

The goal here is simple: keep it real and ease your mind where I can by sharing perspectives that helped me find clarity—and may help you find clarity as well.

Welcome to Realism.

A humble approach to existence. Where real-life challenges meet philosophy.
